Born in New Orleans Louisiana in 1969, Scott Ewen is a contemporary figurative and landscape painter combining attributes of realism and abstraction. Rather than capturing single moments, the paintings employ bold color with organic forms, frequently rendered in motion. Figures and landscapes exists on the edge of a complete breakdown of representation, held together by a strong sense of composition and the details that speak to not only the form but also the passage of time.
Ewen graduated with a BFA from the Museum School of Fine Arts Boston in 1991 where he studied photography and drawing. He currently in Austin Texas where he lives with his wife Andrea and 2 kids, Lex and Lucia.
